Abstract

The Center for Information on Medicinal Plants (CIPLAM) began in 2013 at the University Center Tabosa De Almeida (ASCES/UNITA) as university extension. The project is intended to bring reliable information about medicinal plants to the community by students and teachers of the institution. Your information is shared in social actions and by electronic means, where the population using the project information also responded to an evaluative instrument type questionnaire about the proper use and adverse effects on the use of medicinal plants. It was found that the most widely used plant is the basil with 26.6% of use, followed by Graúda mint leaf (21.5%) and grass holy (18.9%). It was concluded the importance of university extension in the proper use and decrease possible side effects of herbal medicine.
