Abstract

This study presents an examination of the routes that Black women and men traveled and still travel today as part of the diaspora from Africa to the Americas, a diaspora that restructured the life of African men and women, albeit within a context of extreme violence and submission. With the objective of reworking and unveiling history, we revisited oral and written texts and books; edited and organized speeches, talks, songs, and stories; all of which gave support to this study. In this fi rst approach, it was possible to discern that the Black micro-territories play an important role in the social, cultural, economic, and political auto-organization which contributes to the social, economic, political, and cultural foundations of society, and to laying the foundations for civil responsibility in the American continent.
