Abstract

Scientific journals are a fundamental means for the dissemination and promotion of scientific production today. In Brazil, in the 1920s, there was a shift in the target audience of scientific publications, aiming that such knowledge was also available to society in general. In the case of extension practice, these can be understood as practices that do not have a mandatory criterion, although they have a fundamental role in professional training, offering a possibility of knowledge in the midst of training. It is in this way that the Extramuros Magazine Extension project materializes as a means of scientific communication of paramount importance in the Northeastern scenario. Thus, the present work is a qualitative and descriptive experience report, seeking to present the activities carried out by extension students during the period from April 2019 to April 2020. As a result, an expansion of Revista Extramuros was observed, which can be seen by reaching other states and universities, as well as other countries. As markers of such evolution, there is a change in the QUALIS of the magazine in the first months of the project. What can be extracted from this experience is the extension of knowledge on the part of extension workers and contact with scientific activities, which proved to be of vital importance for academic training.
