Abstract

The present study discusses extension activities performed by nursing students during the supervised internship of the course, related to the intervention project entitled: “Training for community health workers: contributions to the process of development of family health actions”, in a Primary Care Unit. Health in the municipality of Petrolina-Pernambuco. Because studies indicate that workers need effective support from staff and managers to avoid weakening their activities with the community. Therefore, it is noticeable that despite the recognition of the importance of this worker, little is still invested in their qualification. There is little insertion and listening of the workers in the team, and there is little recognition of its participation, consequently there is a decrease in its critical process and commitment to the practice of leadership in the community, in general. Thus, it was necessary to intervene in a perspective of health promotion, in order to qualify care and strengthen the integral bond to the subject.
