The Family Farming Information System – SIdAF was developed based on demands raised through two workshops held with public policy promoters and Technical Assistance and Rural Extension actions – ATER of the Territory's family farming sector. of Identity of the Rio Grande Basin, in Western Bahia. Based on a case study with a qualitative approach, this paper describes how these Workshops have contributed to the development of SIdAF. In the first Workshop, with a more restricted audience, the system proposal was presented and its requirements and functionalities were identified. In the second, the SIdAF, developed from the results of the I Workshop, was presented for criticism and validation. At the end, the capacity and speed with which knowledge and solutions can be built from these events stand out, as well as the challenges imposed for their realization.
