Teaching dentistry in extramural scenarios: a partnership between the Dental School of UFMG, Associação Mineira de Reabilitação (AMR) and a school for people with neuromotor disabilities

This is the intersectoral experience between the Dental School of UFMG, the Associação Mineira de Reabilitação (AMR), a non-governmental organization, and a public school for people with neuromotor disabilities. The service of oral health promotion is performed with the financial help of AMR and is part of a program called integrated rehabilitation service (Serviço Integrado de Reabilitação-SIR). This service involves other areas of the knowledge and search the social integration of the individual with neuromotor disabilities. Beyond the experience of multidisciplinary working, the dental students participate in the planning of individual and collective actions of the dental health promotion, perform the dental treatment and evaluate the results. This extramural project is well evaluated by all the social actors involved, it is sustainable and have a significative bibliographic production.
