Promoting citizenship in school using demography

Abstract

The activities carried out during the development of this project had as main objective the promotion of citizenship to students of the State School Professor Manoel Xavier Paes Barreto in the municipality of Petrolina. Important topics, among them, Gender, Race and Ethnicity Issues, Self-image, Climate Change, Demographic Bonuses were chosen and lectures with several experts were held. Approximately 305 school students, especially high school students, 4 university professors, and 11 students and professionals from areas related to what was proposed, participated in the activities of this project. In this perspective, the approach of border issues between academic life and social life is of extreme importance for students, both elementary and middle school, who could have access to most of these discussions and thus have the opportunity for better training regarding the main themes of Demography research.
