THE STUDY AND THE PRACTICE OF TAI CHI CHUAN: THE SEARCH OF SELF THROUGH GESTURE

This work presents considerations about the imbrications between self - knowledge and corporal practice, together with the presentation of a project to extend the teaching of the tai chi chuan martial art. Self-knowledge is related to the subjective dimension of the gesture, which in the case of tai chi chuan is enhanced by the state of presence and also by the search for greater genuineness in the execution of the gestures. Our goal is to present an account of
experience teaching tai chi chuan, in order to foster thought-provoking reflections on the teaching of this and other martial arts.
