Abstract

The Environment is a space socially under construction in daily relationships that are permeated by economic, social, political and cultural practices and activities that lead to processes of cultural creation and transformation of nature, community and individuals. With the industrialization process, the increasing urban population concentration and the encouragement of consumption as basic characteristics of modern society, social, environmental and public health problems are aggravating, affecting even the rural areas of cities and damaging what is defined as Environmental health. Thus, the article discusses socioenvironmental issues with the culture and history of the remnant Quilombos peoples regarding the extension project “Health Education Project in the Quilombola Cupira Community” (2016-2017) in Santa Maria da Boa Vista - PE. The project aimed to promote environmental health education actions, based on basic care in the destination of household solid waste, recycling and family health, aiming at the social and environmental sustainability of daily relationships and practices, as well as improvements and quality in environmental health.
