In recent years, farming has changed and small producers have made the most of their production. Understanding their production, reducing losses, potentializing gains and building plans consistent with economic viability are positions that promote the self-development of the family farmer and bring quality of life to all members involved. However, it is necessarily necessary to use management, planning and rural entrepreneurship practices in the productive units. This report intends to record the acquired experience and address the trajectories of families, who through various training and training meetings with participants of the technical assistance and rural extension program, in the municipalities of Curaçá, Uauá and Juazeiro, in the Sertão do São Francisco Territory , semiarid region of Bahia. The discussion was incorporated by the participating families, who in a mutual and shared action, promoted by a government action, conducted in a participatory way, with techniques of aspects mobilized for learning. This pedagogical feat presented motivates people to participate in seeking predisposition, an active posture for learning, which brings a reflection on skills and popular knowledge as drivers for the conquest and permanence of managerial autonomy of the family farmer, making the available resources bring proposed benefits by him. Thus, the research question: is it important to develop and apply management tools and rural entrepreneurship in family farming production units? The methodology used to prepare the report was based on the management tools: PDCA Cycle and the SWOT Matrix, and on grounded theory, which deal respectively with problem solutions, discoveries of values and theoretical propositions arising from the understanding of the phenomenon. Access to management and applicability tools is able to provide subsidies to family farmers, taking them to family farming activities with efficiency, social and economic autonomy, experiencing rural entrepreneurship.
