Abstract

The present experience story aims to establish connections between University Extension and the principles defended by Paulo Freire. To this end, it will be discussed how the “Aproxime-se” Program of the Distance Education Support Center from the Federal University of Minas Gerais conducted its activities in the 2020 and 2021 editions during social isolation. After the declaration of a worldwide pandemic by The World Health Organization challenges emerged and the way of acting and work process needed to be improved and fully adapted to a remote format. Therefore, the new information generated are relevant to the current scenario of extension, also reinforcing the importance of the maintenance of the “Aproxime-se” to keep the bond with the community.
