Abstract

This study sought to analyze the understanding of 9th grade students in Elementary Teaching II at a Municipal School regarding an investigative experimental activity related to drinking water. The students took part in an expository class and conducted an experiment to analyze drinking water. The data we have collected from observations recorded in a logbook and from a questionnaire. The students considered that the quality of water supplied to their homes is poor, since it does not meet the organoleptic standards of drinkability (color, smell and taste). Moreover, they reported that after the activities, they were able to better-understood drinking water. As expected, most responded to questions linked to the investigative experiment. The students displayed positive attitudes during the activities such as raising doubts, participation, as well as respect for peers and teachers. The results suggest more solid partnerships between universities and schools.
