Abstract

This paper aims to discuss and analyze the process of agroecological transition from the systematization of the experience of Community Organic Vegetable Garden of the Mandacaru Settlement, Petrolina-PE. The methodology of this action research performed in four steps: Successive Approximation with the families of the vegetable garden and other families of the settlement, and the integration of students and other groups of farmers in extension activities and research of the Center for Research and Studies Sertão Agroecológico; Planning and Development Actions; Consultation with records of actions taken; Systematization, triangulation and analysis of data. The successful agroecological transition process requires initiative of families, coordination between groups and institutions with the initiatives of civil society and public authorities so that actions can infl uence the socio-productive processes and sustainable development of families as well as integrate with other transition agroecological actions underway within communities and local, regional and global.
