Abstract

The present study focuses on an experience report, the product of a university Extension project carried out by the Computing Engineering course of the Federal University of the São Francisco Valley (UNIVASF), in the period 2017. The objective was to train a group of National Institute of Social Security (INSS). 57 subjects were attended, 40 males and 17 females, mean age of the group was 40.1 (± 8.1) years. After the end of the course, 74% of the insured people classified their knowledge of computer science from good to excellent and 82% recognized the qualification as important for the professional reinclusion in the job market. In addition, the activities allowed the qualification of the technical skills of the students of Computing of the UNIVASF, parallel to this, teachers of this formation contributed actively to the territorial development. It is concluded that the project has achieved its goals and objectives, and that the partnership of Public higher education with INSS is possible and important.
