Abstract

The university extension project On the trail of archaeological heritage: heritage education in schools has sought to contribute to heritage education, scientific dissemination and school training, with the theme of archaeological heritage in Parintins, Amazonas, developed in basic education and higher education . The activities developed with a focus on the archaeological heritage of Parintins, through expository classes, highlight the heritage and historical importance of material remains and workshops for molding clay/ceramic objects. Thus, archaeological heritage gained prominence in the daily lives of the city's schools, valuing, respecting, encouraging studies on the archaeological wealth present in this location and contributing to understanding the long-term historical relationship of the remains with the history of indigenous presence in Parintins-AM. The groups of students have interacted with the topic, in the meetings we have managed to awaken understanding about the regulations and procedures when fortuitous findings – due to the recurrence of these findings – and encouraged the appreciation of history and cultural materiality, in addition to the protection of the vast archaeological heritage dispersed throughout the municipality.
