Dance and the child education: some meditations on the experience at Vila Educacional de Meninas

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to present some notes on the aesthetic and pedagogical teaching dance developed from the extension project The dance experience in development of children held in partnership with the Vila Educacional de Meninas. The project served over 80 girls among children and adolescents in unfavorable socioeconomic conditions. Observing the power of art as a tool for education and human development, the project has been developed in harmony with the goals of the partner institution, in particular the search for autonomy, increased self-esteem and value as a human being and achievement of elements for a better life.
