Abstract

The extension project entitled “Diffusion of morphophysiology knowledge using active learning strategies with scholars of Paulo Afonso’s public schools” is performed by professors and students from Univasf’s medical course, in Paulo Afonso Campus. In this context, this article relates the dynamics of the activities performed, as well as contributions brought by the project to the public schools’ students. Each group of students participates of five weekly meetings, in which are discussed themes related to the morphophysiology of the human body’s systems. The approach seeks to stimulate constantly the participation of the students, so that they become protagonists in the teaching-learning process. A test is applied in the beginning and in the end of each meeting cycle, to assess the students’ evolution. The results show improvement in students’ performance, continuous increase of students’ participation in the meetings and greater interest, on the part of some students, in joining health courses.
