DOES SCIENCE HAVE COLOR? BRIEF APPROACH ON THE IMPORTANCE OF BLACK INVENTORS AND SCIENTISTS FOR SCIENCE CLASSES IN A PUBLIC SCHOOL IN SÃO RAIMUNDO NONATO - PI

Abstract

This experience report presents some interventions carried out through PIBID in a School of the Municipal Network of São Raimundo Nonato - PI, on the theme 'racism'. This work, in its abstract format, was awarded 1st place in the 9th Exhibition of Initiation to Teaching, of the XIV Teaching, Research and Extension Week (Scientex) - Federal University of Vale do São Francisco (Univasf). The activities took place through various didactic resources, videos, a questionnaire and stories of black scientists and inventors were presented through the project 'Building Science with PIBID', in 9th grade classes, Elementary School Final Years, with the theme "Why don't we know black scientists and inventors?" In addition to talking about black inventors and scientists, we also aimed to show that Science has no color, ethnicity and no gender, as it is plural. And with that, informing that it can be done by blacks, whites, men and women, etc. The result of the intervention of the scientists and inventors was very satisfactory for everyone involved with the project, with the answers given to the questionnaire, it was clear how much the students were amazed and inspired by knowing that important inventions and works were made by blacks and black women.

Carina Siqueira de Morais, Univasf

Licenciada em Química pela Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco, Unidade Acadêmica de Serra Talhada (UFRPE-UAST). Mestre em Ensino das Ciências pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ensino das Ciências da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (PPGEC/ UFRPE) e Doutoranda em Ensino de Ciências e Matemática pelo mesmo Programa de Pós-Graduação. Principais linhas de pesquisa: Formação Inicial e Continuada de professores; Construção de Significados através de estratégias metodológicas para a abordagem de temáticas contemporâneas, como: a Nanociência e Nanotecnologia; Educação Não-Formal e Informal, Divulgação e Alfabetização científica etc. Atualmente é Professora Assistente A-2 da Universidade Federal do Vale do São Francisco (UNIVASF), Campus Serra da Capivara, no Colegiado de Ciências da Natureza - CCINAT. Atua nas áreas de Ensino das Ciências, Ensino da Química e Ciências da Natureza. Exerce a função de Coordenadora de estágio do CCINAT/UNIVASF, Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa em Ensino e Aprendizagem das Ciências - GPEAC (certificado pelo CNPq e UNIVASF), e Coordenadora geral do Laboratório de Química da UNIVASF/CCINAT/São Raimundo Nonato-PI.
